I am going to try something new with the blog. I know I've been very absent lately.. I don't have any excuses. I'm just not really feeling it... so I'm going to do something a little different.
I get a lot of emails... and one of the most asked question is what do I buy and how do I use it? Earlier on, I asked if you guys wanted me to post my shopping list, but received very little response.. so I stopped doing it.
I'm going to try it again. Basically, I will update when I shop, or at least 3 times a week. Lately, I've been riding my bike to the grocery store every other day or so. I budget $100/month for food. On the first of the month, I get $100 in cash out of the bank in $5 increments.
Today's purchases at Market Basket in Portsmouth were:
- 1 lb dry black beans .99
- 1 bunch cilantro 1.29
- Iceberg lettuce .49
- Garlic .38
- Total= 3.15
The iceberg lettuce was from the reduced produce bin. Friday mornings are a great time to come in because they receive a HUGE order for the weekend and need to move all of the produce out to re-stock.
I will pressure cook the whole pound of beans with spices and cilantro and use that to make:
